CoachGeorgeRaveling.com
At last count, I think there are more websites than there are people. I, myself, have jackfertig.com and CuteBabyNameGifts.com (the latter being the easiest way to buy a baby gift and make yourself a hero at the same time). Although it took a while, George Raveling has finally entered the world of technology. George doesn’t possess high tech skills and he hasn’t signed up for any classes recently. He did the next best thing.
He hired someone to do what he thought (actually was told) needed to be done. And as is his way, he hooked up with the best. His website, coachgeorgeraveling.com, is more than just a site. It’s not what a normal website is, i.e. it doesn’t appeal to a certain topic or group of people. It appeals to everybody. Naturally, there is an abundance of quality basketball information but, in addition to articles by George and guests, there is a recommended list of books (George is one of the most voracious readers of all-time), suggested restaurants to frequent, a section called Life Lessons, even tips from George’s 90+year-old aunt Annie.
Because George has access to the best in the business - and because he refuses to do things any other way but first class, this is as sophisticated a website as I’ve seen. While it lacks a direct message, which most websites do, it is simply all things to all people - and I defy anyone to check it out and not come away richer in knowledge.
When George initially had the idea of a website, he wanted to introduce a segment in which he interviewed some of the game’s most interesting names. After viewing several of these give & takes, I thought one thing that was missing was George being interviewed. Since our relationship goes back nearly 40 years, I nominated myself as the guy to throw some in depth, as well as some trite, queries in his direction. He agreed to allow me to become part of his website.
I spent nearly a month jogging my memory to come up with stories that will entertain the reader as well as give valuable insight into the guy we know as Rav. George’s main man, Alex, who’s absolutely brilliant with all things technological, told me our interview should be up shortly. So, check it out. You’ll come away impressed. As George Zimmer says:
“I guarantee it.”
